Thoughts From Xinify - "Mighty
Oaks from Little Acorns Grow"
Introducing Paul Herron, Sr. Vice President, North America,
Sales & Alliances |
|
August 11th
marks an important milestone in Xinify’s history – our fifth year anniversary in
business – and I wanted to take this moment to recall some of the ground we’ve
covered in that time, and share some thoughts about where we’re |
|
going in the future.
Five years ago a small group of
ex-Applied Business Technology (ABT) and ex-Niku consultants found themselves
working together for a major entertainment company on what was arguably the most
complex Niku implementation undertaken to date. That project tested their
collective talents, but when it was successfully delivered – on time and under
budget – those people knew without question they were among the very best Niku
consultants in the world and they could count on one another to overcome
whatever challenges they faced together. That’s how Xinify was founded –
and we’ve never looked back! Read

Implementing ITIL Best Practices
By: John Neels -
Director, ITSM (Remedy/CA Service Desk) Practice |
|
Explore how the
categorization of events is probably one of the most important aspects of
tracking IT Service Management (ITSM) processes and activities. This
white paper
(PDF, 514KB)
explains how categorizations are used to |
|
assist an organization in a)
measuring
and documenting
the efficiency of the people processes (Operational Categorization), b)
the
reliability and
performance of IT
configuration items
(Product Categorizations) and c) the corresponding metrics that will measure the
health and responsiveness of the IT organization. Developing a categorization
matrix is often the hardest challenge of any ITSM implementation. Because
it required consensus within the entire IT organization,
there are often political ramifications and legitimacy issues intertwined with
operational categorizations documenting a department's processes and work
activities and product categorizations defining the organization's configuration
items. |

How to View Project Actual Hours by
Resource
By: Jon
Hoaldridge - Engagement Manager |
|
Many Clarity clients
do not fully utilize resource allocations (meaning they let them default to 100%
allocated for the project). This means that the various resource
allocation portlets scattered throughout Clarity are of little use. BUT if |
|
you change those portlets to reflect Actual usage or ETCs, then these portlets become a
very valuable tool for resource utilization management. The data is as accurate
as the Actuals and ETCs in the project. This
instruction sheet
(PDF, 2MB) shows how to
convert the Project Team Detail portlet to display Actual hours. |

Clarity Education Packs (CEP) for Project Managers
Using Open Workbench with Clarity 2-day Fundamentals Training Kit |
|
A key cornerstone of the Xinify Clarity and PM
Practice is the Training and Mentoring of the project managers. |
| |
Leveraging on
its deep OWB, MSP and Clarity talent, Xinify has created a number of Clarity
Education Packs - Shrink Wrapped reusable training classes for in-house training
delivery needs. This eliminates the need for instructors from vendors,
scheduling distributed groups to convene in a class room session and helps in
quick ramp up for new hires. The Clarity Education Packs (CEP) from Xinify
lowers the cost of training delivery and is a proven delivery model for a number
of its Clarity clients and users. |
